Choral

Michael Denomme is a Canadian musician, educator and conductor originally hailing from North Bay, Ontario, and now calls Toronto home. Michael holds a Bachelors in music education and a Masters degree in Choral conducting from the University of Toronto, where he studied with Dr Jamie Hillman. He is the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 recipient of the Elmer Isler national graduate fellowship in Choral Conducting, the 2023 recipient of the Faculty of Music teaching award, and the 2022 University of Toronto Student leadership award.  

Michael has also had the pleasure to participate in choral conducting workshops around North America, including the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s conducting symposium, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music’s international conductors training program, and the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Conducting symposium, where he has studied with Dr. Kari Turunen, Dr. Joe Miller and Dr. Jean-Sebastian Vallee respectively.  

Michael is currently the Associate Conductor of Mississauga Children’s choir, where he leads the Senior choir, and continues to work as an assistant conductor with Toronto Children's Chorus, and VIVA Youth Singers. He has also contributed to the organization of multiple provincial treble choir festivals, most recently acting as the project manager for the 2025 Junior Treble Festival, which hosted 8 choirs and over 300 singers in Toronto for a full day of 
collaboration and performance.  

Outside of choral music, Michael has also performed with the North Bay Symphony Orchestra as a soloist, and conductor alike. He spends his spare time training and running marathons around the world, and has a keen interest in exciting footwear, and fancy running sneakers.
