To be eligible for this award the candidate must have a minimum of three years of private music study.  This could include piano or other instrument as well as voice.    The candidate must have entered the current festival in at least three solo vocal performance classes (not including musical theatre classes) and one vocal sight-reading class.   The candidate must attain a first-class mark of 80 or above in the sight-reading class to be eligible for this award.  This award may be received twice by any one competitor, but not in successive years.
Candidates who wish to be considered for this award must submit a letter with their festival entries outlining their music qualifications (i.e. years of study and with whom) and their present or future music education plans.  If, in the Adjudicator’s opinion, there is no worthy candidate, the award will not be made.
