2026 Syllabus - Popular Voice

Popular Voice: Classes 2700-2799
Competitors must perform two (2) contrasting selections in any of the following genres: pop, pop/ folk, R&B, soul, rock, alternative, indie, jazz, sacred or country.

Selections from Conservatory Canada Contemporary Idioms Voice lists and the RCM List C (Levels 1-6) and RCM List D (Levels 7-10) are eligible excluding selections as defined in the Musical Theatre Voice or Classical Voice Operetta classes.

Selections should be age appropriate and suitable for audiences of all ages. Offensive language (profanity) found in song selections must be replaced with alternate word(s) to ensure a 'clean' version. The LCMF reserves the right to reject any selections that have an inappropriate tone, either in style or content. Please contact LCMF if you have any questions.

Selections must be musically contrasting. The Adjudicator will take the choice of repertoire into consideration.

Accompaniment, by acoustic piano only.

NOT Permitted

•    Selections as defined in the Musical Theatre Voice or Classical Voice Operetta classes
•    Rap and Hip Hop
•    Songs listed in the RCM Voice or CC Voice syllabi (Lists A and B from Levels 1-6; Lists A, B, C from Levels 7-10)

NOTE:  For competitors reccomended to the OMFA Provincial competition, the number of songs to be sung in Popular Voice  may vary by Class based on the competitors age.  Please visit OMFA.ca for details and approved songs.
